RTLS stands for Real-Time Location System. It’s a technology to give you real-time updates on the location of mobile equipment, the status of conditioned environments like freezers, and alerts to manage people safety. Both alerts to respond to events and the visual user interface to see and understand data can be accessed from desktop or mobile devices.
At the heart of the RTLS system are Wi-Fi tags for equipment and personal badges for people. Tags are attached to mobile equipment or cold storage units, and communicate at regular intervals via Wi-Fi access points to update the location and/or status of the device. Staff members carry small personal badges which communicate either with each other for Proximity Management or via the Wi-Fi for safety applications such as personal duress.
The Securitas Technology RTLS platform offers different levels of location accuracy based on the application, and can provide accuracy down to the room level.
