Online Privacy Policy

Securitas Technology Corporation (the “Company” or “we”) has developed this privacy policy out of respect for the privacy of our customers, visitors to our website, job applicants, and independent contractors. This policy describes the personal information we collect, use, and disclose about individual consumers, applicants, and contractors who visit or interact with this website, visit any of our offices, facilities or locations, purchase or inquire about any of our products or Services (defined below), contract with us to provide Services, apply for a position of employment, or otherwise interact or do business with us.

This policy applies to information collected, used, and disclosed by Securitas Technology (previously Stanley Security) as well as Securitas Healthcare (previously Stanley Healthcare) and its affiliates (collectively referred to as “Securitas Technology & Healthcare”) in connection with information that we collect:

• Through our websites, microsites, mobile sites operated by us from which you are accessing this Privacy Policy (the “Sites”),
• Through our software applications made available by for use on or through computers and mobile devices (the “Apps”),
• Through our social media pages and apps that we control from which you are accessing this Privacy Policy (collectively referred to as our “Social Media Pages”),
• Through HTML-formatted email messages that we send to you that link to this Privacy Policy, and/or
• Offline such as when you visit our stores or retail kiosks, attend a tradeshow, or place an order or request for support over the phone.

Collectively, the Sites, Apps, Social Media Pages, Email, and offline interactions are referred to as the “Services.”

This policy does not apply to any information processed by Securitas Technology & Healthcare in its capacity as a service provider on behalf of a business partner or customer, for example, when such a party provides us with information concerning their own consumers or employees. Securitas Technology & Healthcare will process that information in accordance with that business partner’s or customer’s instructions and applicable law. 

This policy does not apply to our current and former employees and their family members, dependents, and beneficiaries; if you are a California resident who is a current or former employee of the Company or a family member, dependent, or beneficiary of any of our current or former employees, you may request access to our Employee Privacy Policy by sending an email to [email protected].

By using the Live Chat feature, you consent to our collection and analysis of all personal information provided. We utilize a vendor called Drift (“Chat Vendor”) to process, analyze, and store the contents of the chat on our behalf. The Chat Vendor primarily uses live representatives of the Company, but when they are unavailable, the Chat Vendor is analyzing the data and information submitted to respond intelligently to meet or identify your needs and answer questions.. The Chat Vendor will not sell this data or share it with anyone besides the Company or another vendor engaged to assist in the services provided to the Company. The Chat Vendor will not use or disclose this data for any purpose other than providing services to the Company. For more information on how the Chat Vendor may use or disclose your personal information, please review their privacy policy HERE. By using these forms and features, you direct the Company to disclose to and share with the Chat Vendor any personal information you provide.

Whenever you visit any of our Sites or Apps, we will collect some information from you automatically simply by you visiting, accessing, and navigating through the Sites or Apps, and some voluntarily when you submit information using a form on the Sites or Apps, enroll in or subscribe to our newsletter or marketing communications, request information, or use any of the other interactive portions of our Sites or Apps. Through the Sites and Apps, we will collect information that can identify you and/or your activity.

Additionally, whenever you communicate, interact or do business with us, whether online or at any of our physical locations or facilities, whether you are contracted individually or through an entity to perform services for or on behalf of Securitas Technology, or whether you apply for a position of employment with us, we will be collecting personal information from you or about you in the course of our interaction or dealings with you.

Based on your specific transactions and interactions with us or our Services, we will or may collect, and we have in the last 12 months collected, the following categories of personal information about you. For each category of information, the categories of third parties and service providers to whom we have disclosed, sold, or shared (as these terms are defined by applicable law) the information in the last 12 months are referenced by a letter that coincides with the letter in the list of categories of service providers and third parties that follows soon after this table. While we are not in the business of selling personal information for monetary value, potentially applicable law defines “selling” to include disclosing data to a third party that is not a service provider in exchange for anything of value, and defines “sharing” to mean disclosing data to a third party for purposes of cross-context behavioral advertising.

Of the above categories of personal information, the following are categories of sensitive personal information the Company may collect from or about consumers, independent contractors, or applicants:

1. Personal Identifiers (social security number, driver’s license or state identification card number, passport number)
2. Account Information (your Company account log-in, in combination with any required security or access code, password, or credentials allowing access to the account)
3. Protected Classifications and Demographic Information (racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, union membership, or sexual orientation)
4. Biometric Information (used for the purpose of uniquely identifying you)
5. Geolocation Information (IP address and/or GPS location, latitude & longitude)
6. Medical and Health Information

Personal information does not include:

• Publicly available information from government records.
• Information that a business has a reasonable basis to believe is lawfully made available to the general public by the consumer, independent contractor, or applicant, or from widely distributed media.
• Information made available by a person to whom the consumer, independent contractor, or applicant has disclosed the information if the consumer, independent contractor, or applicant has not restricted the information to a specific audience.
• Deidentified, aggregated or anonymized information.

• You the consumer, independent contractor, or job applicant, when you visit the website and voluntarily submit information through forms on the website or social media, when you visit any of our physical locations, when you purchase or inquire about any of our Services, when you enter into a contract to perform services for us or on our behalf, or when you apply for a position of employment
• Our employees, contractors, vendors, suppliers, guests, visitors, other consumers, and customers based on your interactions with them (if any)
• We utilize cookies to automatically collect information about our website visitors
• Surveillance cameras at our physical locations
• Lead generators and referral sources
• Credit and consumer reporting agencies
• HR support vendors
• Recruiters
• Staffing agencies
• Social media platforms and other services to which you are able to post information and content. Please note that any information you post or disclose through these services will become public and may be available to other users and the general public. When you connect your Services account with your social media account, you will share information with your friends associated with your social media account, with other users, and with your social media account provider. By doing so, you authorize us to facilitate this sharing of information, and you understand that the use of shared information will be governed by the social media provider’s privacy policy.
• Company-issued computers, electronic devices, and vehicles
• Company systems, networks, software applications, and databases you log into or use
• Company systems, networks, software applications, and databases you log into or use in the course of applying for a position with the Company, interacting with our website, or otherwise interacting with us in any other capacity, including from vendors the Company engages to manage or host such systems, networks, applications or databases

• From friends, family, or colleagues who choose to email you job postings that they think you may be interested in from our application platform or careers page

45. INDPENDENT CONTRACTOR PURPOSES:

• To fulfill or meet the purpose for which you provided the information.
• To comply with state and federal law and regulations requiring businesses to maintain certain records (accident or safety records, and tax records/1099 forms). c. To engage the services of independent contractors and compensate them for services.
• To evaluate, make, and communicate decisions regarding an independent contractor, including decisions to hire and/or terminate.
• To grant independent contractors access to secure Company facilities, systems, networks, computers, and equipment, and maintain information on who accessed such facilities, systems, networks, computers, and equipment, and what they did therein or thereon.
• To implement, monitor, and manage electronic security measures on independent contractor devices that are used to access Company networks and systems.
• To evaluate, assess, and manage the Company’s business relationship with vendors, service providers, and contractors that provide services to the Company. h. To improve user experience on Company computers, networks, devices, software applications or systems, and to debug, identify, and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality of our systems.
• To reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases in or through the workplace.

We may disclose your personal information for any one or more of the business purposes identified above.

We do NOT and will not sell your personal information in exchange for monetary consideration. However, we may sell or share some of your information to third parties for other valuable consideration such as cross-context behavioral advertising.

We contract with third party advertising companies to tailor online advertising to be directed to you on other websites and online services. These third-party advertising companies place, use, or rely on technology, such as cookies and pixel tags, to obtain information about your interactions with our Services. This information, in addition to information the companies receive from your access to and use of other websites or online services on any of your devices, and information received from third parties, helps us select advertising to serve to you and where to serve it based on your experience on our Services and other sites that you visit. They also use these technologies, along with information they collect about your online use, to recognize you across the devices you use, such as a mobile phone and a laptop.

We may sell or share your personal information for the following business purposes:

1. For cross-context behavioral advertising.
2. To determine the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns, so that we can adapt our campaigns to the needs and interests of our users.
3. To understand you, so that the Company can personalize your experiences when using our services and provide information/offers tailored to your interests.
4. To better understand your preferences so that we can deliver content via our Services that we believe will be relevant and interesting to you.
5. To analyze and predict user preferences in order to prepare aggregated trend reports on how our digital content is used to perform market research, so we can improve our services.

While we do not sell or share your personal information in exchange for money, we may sell or share your personal information for other valuable consideration. You have the right to tell us NOT to sell or share your personal information. You have the full and free right to opt-out of our disclosure of your personal information to any third parties where the disclosure constitutes “selling” or “sharing” as defined by the California Privacy Rights Act. You may exercise your right to opt-out without fear of discrimination for doing so. To opt-out of our selling or sharing of your information, meaning, we will not disclose your information to third parties for any monetary or other valuable consideration, you can do any of the following:

• You can use a Global Privacy Controls (GPC) signal. Securitas will process opt-out preferences from GPC signals, which are in formats commonly used and recognized by businesses, such as an HTTP field header, as requests to opt-out of sale or sharing. The GPC signal opt-out will only apply to the browser you are using on your device; it will not apply to other browsers and/or devices to which GPCs are not activated or to offline sales.

• If you are unable to submit an opt-out through any of the above methods, please call our toll-free privacy line at (855) 331-0359 for assistance and a representative will assist in meeting your needs.

You can have an authorized agent submit a request on your behalf. To submit an opt-out through use of an authorized agent, you must provide that agent with written permission signed by you to submit an opt-out on your behalf, except when using an opt-out preference signal. The authorized agent may call our toll-free privacy line at (855) 331-0359 to make the opt-out request and for directions for submitting the proof of authorization and the authorized agent’s proof of identification to the Company. We maintain the right to deny any request from an authorized agent that does not submit sufficient proof that they have been authorized by you to act on your behalf.

A request to opt-out need not be a verifiable consumer request. However, we may deny a request to opt-out if we have a good faith, reasonable, and documented belief that a request to opt-out is fraudulent. If we deny your request to opt-out, we shall inform you of our decision not to comply and provide an explanation as to why we believe the request is fraudulent.

Opt-out preference signals provide consumers with a simple and easy-to-use method by which to exercise the right to opt-out of the selling and sharing of their information. Global Privacy Controls (GPC) is a user-enabled opt-out preference signal which can communicate a user’s “Do Not Sell or Share” request on behalf of the person or device. We will process opt-out preferences from GPC signals which are in formats commonly used and recognized by businesses, such as an HTTP field header. We will treat a consumer’s use of GPCs as a valid request to opt-out of the selling and sharing of information for that browser. We currently do not connect browser use to particular consumers and, as such, you will need to use GPCs on all browsers in which you access our website and use our opt-out form to opt-out of offline sales.

Do Not Track (DNT) is a privacy preference that users can set if they do not want web services to collect information about their online activity. We do not respond to DNT signals or other mechanisms (with the exception of GPCs) that provide a choice regarding the collection of personal information about activities over time and across different websites or online services. We encourage users who have DNTs to use GPCs.

We may use or disclose your sensitive personal information for purposes other than the following:

1. To perform the Services or provide the goods reasonably expected by an average consumer who requests those goods or Services.
2. To detect security incidents that compromise the availability, authenticity, integrity, and confidentiality of stored or transmitted personal information.
3. To resist malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal actions directed at the business and to prosecute those responsible for those actions.
4. To ensure the physical safety of natural persons.
5. For short-term, transient use.
6. To perform Services on behalf of the Company.
7. To verify or maintain the quality or safety of a product, service or device that is owned, manufactured, manufactured for, or controlled by the Company, and to improve, upgrade, or enhance the service or device that is owned, manufactured by, manufactured for, or controlled by the Company.
8. For purposes that do not involve inferring characteristics about the consumers, contractors, and applicants.

As provided by the California Privacy Rights Act, you have the right to limit our use or disclosure of your sensitive personal information to uses that are necessary to perform the services or provide the goods reasonably expected by an average consumer who requests those services or goods. You have the full and free right to limit our use or disclosure of your sensitive personal information as defined by the California Privacy Rights Act. You may exercise your right to limit without fear of discrimination for doing so. To limit the use or disclosure of your sensitive personal information, you can do any of the following:

You can have an authorized agent submit a request to limit on your behalf. The authorized agent may call our toll-free privacy line at 855-331-0359 to make the request to limit and for directions for submitting the proof of authorization and the authorized agent’s proof of identification to the Company. We maintain the right to deny any request from an authorized agent that does not submit sufficient proof that they have been authorized by you to act on your behalf.

A request to limit need not be a verifiable request. However, we may deny a request to limit if we have a good faith, reasonable, and documented belief that a request to limit is fraudulent. We will retain each category of personal information in accordance with our established data retention schedule as indicated above. In deciding how long to retain each category of personal information that we collect, we consider many criteria, including, but not limited to: the business purposes for which the Personal Information was collected; relevant federal, state and local recordkeeping laws; applicable statutes of limitations for claims to which the information may be relevant; and legal preservation of evidence obligations. The criteria used to determine our retention periods include:

• The length of time we have an ongoing relationship with you and provide the Services to you (for example, for as long as you have an account with us or keep using the Services);
• Whether there is a legal obligation to which we are subject (for example, certain laws require us to keep records of your transactions for a certain period of time before we can delete them); or
• Whether retention is advisable in light of our legal position (such as in regard to applicable statutes of limitations, litigation or regulatory investigations).
• Please note that where you unsubscribe from our marketing communications, we will keep a record of your e-mail address to ensure we do not send you marketing e-mails in the future. We apply our data retention procedures on an annual basis to determine if the business purposes for collecting the personal information, and legal reasons for retaining the personal information, have both expired. If so, we will purge the information in a secure manner.

We may use other companies and individuals to perform certain functions on our behalf. Examples include administering e-mail services and running special promotions. Such parties only have access to the personal information needed to perform these functions and may not use or store the information for any other purpose. Subscribers or site visitors will never receive unsolicited e-mail messages from vendors working on our behalf.

If you sign-up for our email list, we may use services provided by third-party platforms (such as social networking and other websites) to serve targeted advertisements on such platforms to you or others, and we may provide a hashed version of your email address or other information to the platform provider for such purposes. Personal Information is disclosed to licensees and franchisees for their use in relation to the marketing, distribution, advertising, sale and servicing of products sold under license from us.

The Company discloses Personal Information to our affiliates in the Securitas group (including parent and sister companies) for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. You can consult the list and location of our affiliates here.

In the event we sell or transfer a particular portion of its business assets, information of consumers, contractors and applicants may be one of the business assets transferred as part of the transaction. If substantially all of our assets are acquired, information of consumers, contractors and applicants may be transferred as part of the acquisition.

We may disclose specific personal and/or sensitive personal information based on a good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to comply with or conform to the law or that such disclosure is necessary to protect our employees or the public.

Cookie Settings

Cookies are small files that a website may transfer to a user’s computer that reside there for either the duration of the browsing session (session cookies) or on a permanent, until deleted, basis (persistent cookies) that may be used to identify a user, a user’s machine, or a user’s behavior.

This Privacy Policy does not cover the privacy, information, or other practices of any third parties, including any third party operating any website or service to which the Services link, including any third-party website or service on which Securitas Technology & Healthcare maintains its Social Media Pages. These third parties have separate and independent privacy policies which we recommend you read carefully. The inclusion of a link on the Services does not imply endorsement of the linked site or service by us or by our affiliates. In addition, we are not responsible for the information collection, use, disclosure or security policies or practices of other organizations, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, or any other app developer, app provider, social media platform provider, operating system provider, wireless service provider or device manufacturer, including with respect to any Personal Information you disclose to other organizations through or in connection with the Apps or our Social Media Pages.

The personal data record created through your registration with our website can only be accessed with the unique password associated with that record. To protect the integrity of the information contained in this record, you should not disclose or otherwise reveal your password to third parties.

We do not knowingly collect, sell or share the personal information of consumers under 18 years of age.

The protection of the information that we collect about visitors to this website is of the utmost importance to us and we take every reasonable measure to ensure that protection, including:

• We have implemented reasonable technical, administrative and physical measures designed to protect the personal information in our custody or control from unauthorized access, use, modification and disclosure.
• We use internal encryption on all data stores that house voluntarily captured data.

Email

• You may opt-out of our marketing emails by following the instructions listed in the email that you received. However, even if you opt-out you may still receive non-marketing emails, such as order/shipping confirmations, changes to service, product registrations, product recalls or customer service communications.

Text messaging/IM

• You may opt out of mobile text messages (e.g., SMS, MMS) and other instant messages (e.g., WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger) from us, by following the opt-out instructions accompanying such messages.

Postal Marketing

• You may set your web browser to notify you when you receive a cookie or to not accept certain cookies. However, if you decide not to accept cookies from our Services, you may not be able to take advantage of all of the features of our Services. Bluetooth

• You may avoid collection of this data by disallowing the Services from accessing Bluetooth® on your device through your device settings or in some cases, at the time you install the App, but we may not be able to provide all features of the Services to you.
• If you do not consent to provide location information or you disable location-based services on your mobile device, we may ask you to manually select the region where you are located, or to enter your zip or postal code. Your desktop or mobile device settings may allow you to disable or block location-based services, which will prevent our Services from accessing your location information. We recommend you review the help information or user manual provided with your device or browser for instructions. If you chose not to provide this information you may not be provided with content specific to your location and we and/or our marketing partners may not be able to provide you with the applicable personalized services and content.

Flash LSOs

• If you do not want Flash LSOs stored on your computer, you can adjust the settings of your Flash player to block Flash LSO storage using the tools contained in the Website Storage Settings Panel. You can also go to the Global Storage Settings Panel and follow the instructions (which may explain, for example, how to delete existing Flash LSOs (referred to as “information”), how to prevent Flash LSOs from being placed on your computer without your being asked, and how to block Flash LSOs that are not being delivered by the operator of the page you are on at the time). Please note that setting the Flash Player to restrict or limit acceptance of Flash LSOs may reduce or impede the functionality of some Flash applications.

Our sharing of your Personal Information with affiliates for their direct marketing purposes

We will process and respond your request where required by applicable law (which varies by jurisdiction).

• In your request, please make clear what Personal Information you would like to have changed, whether you would like to have your Personal Information suppressed from our database or otherwise let us know what limitations you would like to put on our use of your Personal Information. For your protection, we may only implement requests with respect to the Personal Information associated with the particular email address that you use to send us your request, and we may request certain Personal Information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the individual seeking access to their Personal Information records. We will try to comply with your request as soon as reasonably practicable.
• Please note that we may need to retain certain information for recordkeeping purposes and/or to complete any transactions that you began prior to requesting a change or deletion (e.g., when you make a purchase or enter a promotion, you may not be able to change or delete the Personal Information provided until after the completion of such purchase or promotion). Please note that if you opt-out of receiving marketing-related emails from us, we may still send you important administrative messages, from which you cannot opt-out.

How We Will Verify That it is Really You Submitting the Request

If you are a California resident, when you submit a Right to Know, Right to Access, Right to Delete, or Right to Correct request through one of the methods provided above, we will ask you to provide some information in order to verify your identity and respond to your request. Specifically, we will ask you to verify information that can be used to link your identity to particular records in our possession, which depends on the nature of your relationship and interaction with us.

Responding to Your Right to Know, Right to Access, Right to Delete, and Right to Correct Requests

Upon receiving a verifiable request from a California resident, we will confirm receipt of the request no later than 10 business days after receiving it. We endeavor to respond to a verifiable request within forty-five (45) calendar days of its receipt. If we require more time (up to an additional 45 calendar days, or 90 calendar days total from the date we receive your request), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. We will deliver our written response by mail or electronically, at your option. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable.

We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.

For a request to correct inaccurate personal information, we will accept, review, and consider any documentation that you provide, and we may require that you provide documentation to rebut our own documentation that the personal information is accurate. You should make a good-faith effort to provide us with all necessarily information at the time that you make the request to correct. We may deny a request to correct if we have a good-faith, reasonable, and documented belief that a request to correct is fraudulent or abusive. If we deny your request to correct, we shall inform you of our decision not to comply and provide an explanation as to why we believe the request is fraudulent.

Responding to Your Request to Opt-Out of the Selling or Sharing of Your Personal Information

We will act upon a consumer request to opt-out within fifteen (15) days of its receipt. We will notify all third parties to whom we have sold or shared personal information of your request and instruct them to comply with the request within the same time frame. We will notify you when this has been completed by mail or electronically, at your option.

A request to opt-out need not be a verifiable consumer request. However, we may deny a request to opt-out if we have a good faith, reasonable, and documented belief that a request to opt-out is fraudulent. Responding to Your Request to Limit the Use of Sensitive Personal Information

We will act upon a request to limit the use of sensitive personal information within fifteen (15) business days of its receipt. We will notify all third parties that use or disclose sensitive personal information of your request to limit and instruct them to comply with the request within the same time frame. We will notify you when this has been completed by mail or electronically, at your option.

A request to limit need not be a verifiable request. However, we may deny a request to limit if we have a good faith, reasonable, and documented belief that a request to limit is fraudulent. If we deny your request to limit, we shall inform you of our decision not to comply and provide an explanation as to why we believe the request is fraudulent. If You Have an Authorized Agent: If you are a California resident, you can authorize someone else as an authorized agent who can submit a request on your behalf. To do so, you must either (a) execute a valid, verifiable, and notarized power of attorney or (b) provide other written, signed authorization that we can then verify. When we receive a request submitted on your behalf by an authorized agent who does not have a power of attorney, that person will be asked to provide written proof that they have your permission to act on your behalf, and we will also contact you and ask you for information to verify your own identity directly with us and not through your authorized agent. We may deny a request from an authorized agent if the agent does not provide your signed permission demonstrating that they have been authorized by you to act on your behalf.
